Steven R. Weisman

Steven R. Weisman, vice president for publications and communications at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, previously served as a correspondent, editor, and editorial board member at The New York Times. He was awarded the Edward Weintal Prize in 2004 from Georgetown University for his reporting on the run-up to the Iraq War and has served as a New York Times bureau chief in Japan and India, as well as senior diplomatic and senior White House correspondent. His book, The Great Tax Wars: Lincoln to Wilson — How the Income Tax Transformed America (Simon & Schuster, 2002), received the Hillman Prize in 2003. He was editor of Daniel Patrick Moynihan: A Portrait in Letters of an American Visionary (PublicAffairs), named by the Times as one of the best books of 2010. His book The Great Tradeoff: Confronting Moral Conflicts in the Era of Globalization, was published by the Peterson Institute in 2016. The Chosen Wars: How Judaism Became an American Religion (Simon & Schuster) was published in 2018.
